Help Keep TikTok Safe — Join the Frontlines of Digital Trust & Safety
In a world where billions of videos
are shared every day, who ensures that what we see online is safe, respectful,
and in line with community standards? At TikTok, that responsibility belongs to
our dedicated Content Moderators — the unsung heroes working behind the
scenes to protect the platform and its users.
This isn’t just a job — it’s a
mission.
As a Content Moderator, you’ll be
the first line of defense in keeping harmful, offensive, or inappropriate
content off TikTok. Whether it’s reviewing videos, comments, or images, you’ll
play a critical role in protecting the community and ensuring that TikTok
continues to be a platform that sparks joy, creativity, and connection. Your
work will directly impact millions of users, from teens sharing their dance
moves to brands launching their next viral campaign.
But this role isn’t for the faint
of heart. It’s for the brave. The emotionally intelligent. The resilient.
Because along with funny pets and
trending memes, you may also come across content that’s disturbing or difficult
to process — things that violate community standards like hate speech, abuse,
or self-harm. That’s why TikTok is not only investing in the latest moderation
tools but also in you — your well-being, your growth, and your ability
to make an impact.
This full-time, remote opportunity
is ideal for those with experience in customer service, call centers, or BPO
environments, who are ready to take on a more meaningful challenge. If you're a
detail-oriented problem solver with strong communication skills, a deep sense
of empathy, and a desire to create a safer digital space, you’ll find your
calling here.
At TikTok, your day-to-day
decisions don’t just matter — they make a difference.
Job Highlights:
Identified by Google from the
original job post
Qualifications:
- Experience in a BPO, call center, or customer
service environment.
Responsibilities:
As a Content Moderator at TikTok,
your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all content on our platform
adheres to the established community guidelines. This involves reviewing
user-generated content, including images, videos, and text, to identify and
remove content that violates our policies. You will play a crucial role in
upholding platform safety by addressing inappropriate, harmful, or disturbing
content, including but not limited to bullying, hate speech, child abuse,
sexual assault, torture, bestiality, self-harm, suicide, and murder. Due to the
nature of the role, exposure to such content will be a daily occurrence, making
resilience and emotional intelligence vital for success in this position.
Beyond content moderation, your
role will also require you to develop, improve, and maintain security standards
for TikTok’s online communities. By collaborating with supervising departments,
you will help manage content violations in a timely and efficient manner.
Additionally, you will be responsible for responding to trust and
safety-related inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring
compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
Job Description:
TikTok is the leading destination
for short-form mobile video, with a mission to inspire creativity and bring
joy. With global headquarters in Los Angeles and Singapore, and offices in
major cities such as New York, London, Dublin, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, Jakarta,
Seoul, and Tokyo, we are shaping the future of online content consumption.
Our Trust & Safety (T&S)
team is dedicated to creating a secure and enjoyable digital environment for
our users. We invest heavily in both human and machine-based moderation
techniques to swiftly remove harmful content before it reaches our broader
community. Our Content Moderators serve as the first line of defense in
ensuring that TikTok remains a safe and inclusive space for all users. This
role requires meticulous attention to detail, quick decision-making, and an
unwavering commitment to platform integrity.
About the Team:
As a Content Moderator, you will
work alongside a team of dedicated professionals who specialize in identifying
and eliminating harmful content. Our moderation efforts are designed to address
objectionable material, ensuring that our platform remains a welcoming space
for users worldwide. While a significant portion of the content you will review
pertains to everyday life, some material may be deeply disturbing. Therefore,
it is essential to approach this role with a strong sense of responsibility and
an ability to cope with emotionally challenging situations.
The role demands a creative
problem-solving mindset, as well as a deep understanding of abuse trends
specific to U.S. cultural norms and sensitivities. Your ability to work under
pressure in a fast-paced environment will be crucial in managing shifting priorities
and responding effectively to evolving content challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure legal compliance and safety of
content uploaded to our platform.
- Develop, improve, and maintain security
standards for TikTok’s online communities.
- Refine content management strategies for
short video platforms.
- Coordinate with supervising departments to
ensure prompt handling of policy violations.
- Review and respond to trust and safety inquiries
from internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in a BPO, call center, or customer
service environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding of global
and regional current affairs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to
learn quickly.
- Familiarity with internet laws and regulations,
particularly in content review.
- Keen attention to detail with a passion for
upholding high content standards.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in
routine daily tasks.
- Active engagement and interest in short video
platforms.
- Flexibility to work under shifting arrangements and
schedules.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment,
adapting to daily challenges.
- Strong commitment to self-care and ability to
manage the emotional demands of the role.
