Job Description
Gaggle is actively seeking
Independent Contractors for temporary, non-renewing contract positions to
review student activity for potentially concerning behaviors. This role offers
flexible scheduling, allowing you to work at your convenience while supporting
Gaggle’s mission of ensuring student safety. The Gaggle Safety Management
department operates 24/7 to detect and address issues such as drug use,
cyberbullying, school violence threats, teen depression, suicidal ideation, and
domestic abuse among students in grades K-12.
As an Independent Contractor, your
work will contribute to making a positive impact on student safety. You will
monitor online student activity across various platforms, identifying and
escalating any content that suggests potential harm. This is an excellent
opportunity for individuals with experience in education, child advocacy, or
safety content review who are passionate about protecting students.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze student-generated content,
identifying potentially inappropriate or harmful activity.
- Monitor words, phrases, statements, and images
across platforms such as email, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and
other student communication tools.
- Process and categorize content efficiently,
following Gaggle’s pre-defined safety metrics.
- Escalate questionable findings to Gaggle Safety
Representatives for further review.
- Collaborate with a nationwide team via chat to
ensure accurate and timely processing of flagged content.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support
Gaggle’s mission.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Background in education, crisis management, child
advocacy, safety content review, or a related field.
- Strong reading and analytical skills, as the role
involves reviewing and interpreting large amounts of written content.
- Ability to differentiate between harmful student
concerns and harmless situations.
- Open-mindedness and respect for differing opinions
and perspectives.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with
minimal supervision.
- Previous experience as an Independent Contractor is
preferred.
- Access to high-speed internet (satellite internet
is not acceptable).
- A reliable computer, Chromebook, or laptop (tablets
and smartphones are not acceptable for this role).
Work Schedule & Expectations
Gaggle operates 24/7, with the
highest demand for work occurring between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM Central Time,
Monday through Friday. While there is a consistent need for review outside
of these hours, availability during peak times is highly valued.
Additional Considerations:
- This contract is temporary and non-renewing,
meaning workloads and availability may fluctuate.
- Contractors are not guaranteed a set number
of hours, and the contract may be terminated at any time.
- Contract renewals are possible based on workflow
needs and individual performance.
- Independent Contractors are not employees
and are not eligible for benefits, overtime pay, or company-sponsored
incentives.
- Those who reach 30 hours of contract work
may become eligible for additional contract opportunities.
Important Notices
This role requires the ability to
review sensitive and potentially disturbing content, including graphic
imagery, nudity, or explicit conversations. Candidates must be comfortable
handling such material with professionalism and objectivity.
Additionally, due to the nature of
the work and Gaggle’s commitment to student safety, annual criminal
background checks are required for all Independent Contractors. The
screening process includes, but is not limited to, a National Criminal and
National Sex Offender Registry check.
