Job Description

Gaggle is actively seeking Independent Contractors for temporary, non-renewing contract positions to review student activity for potentially concerning behaviors. This role offers flexible scheduling, allowing you to work at your convenience while supporting Gaggle’s mission of ensuring student safety. The Gaggle Safety Management department operates 24/7 to detect and address issues such as drug use, cyberbullying, school violence threats, teen depression, suicidal ideation, and domestic abuse among students in grades K-12.

As an Independent Contractor, your work will contribute to making a positive impact on student safety. You will monitor online student activity across various platforms, identifying and escalating any content that suggests potential harm. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in education, child advocacy, or safety content review who are passionate about protecting students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze student-generated content, identifying potentially inappropriate or harmful activity.
  • Monitor words, phrases, statements, and images across platforms such as email, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, and other student communication tools.
  • Process and categorize content efficiently, following Gaggle’s pre-defined safety metrics.
  • Escalate questionable findings to Gaggle Safety Representatives for further review.
  • Collaborate with a nationwide team via chat to ensure accurate and timely processing of flagged content.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support Gaggle’s mission.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Background in education, crisis management, child advocacy, safety content review, or a related field.
  • Strong reading and analytical skills, as the role involves reviewing and interpreting large amounts of written content.
  • Ability to differentiate between harmful student concerns and harmless situations.
  • Open-mindedness and respect for differing opinions and perspectives.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience as an Independent Contractor is preferred.
  • Access to high-speed internet (satellite internet is not acceptable).
  • A reliable computer, Chromebook, or laptop (tablets and smartphones are not acceptable for this role).

Work Schedule & Expectations

Gaggle operates 24/7, with the highest demand for work occurring between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM Central Time, Monday through Friday. While there is a consistent need for review outside of these hours, availability during peak times is highly valued.

Additional Considerations:

  • This contract is temporary and non-renewing, meaning workloads and availability may fluctuate.
  • Contractors are not guaranteed a set number of hours, and the contract may be terminated at any time.
  • Contract renewals are possible based on workflow needs and individual performance.
  • Independent Contractors are not employees and are not eligible for benefits, overtime pay, or company-sponsored incentives.
  • Those who reach 30 hours of contract work may become eligible for additional contract opportunities.

Important Notices

This role requires the ability to review sensitive and potentially disturbing content, including graphic imagery, nudity, or explicit conversations. Candidates must be comfortable handling such material with professionalism and objectivity.

Additionally, due to the nature of the work and Gaggle’s commitment to student safety, annual criminal background checks are required for all Independent Contractors. The screening process includes, but is not limited to, a National Criminal and National Sex Offender Registry check.
