Job Overview

MacPaw is looking for a Data Annotation (Labeling) Team Lead to join its AI Team. This role is critical in managing and optimizing the data labeling process, which is fundamental to the company’s AI and machine learning initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, an understanding of data collection and annotation, and experience ensuring high-quality training data for AI models.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Annotation Team Lead, you will:

✅ Oversee the Data Labeling Process

Manage a team of data annotators to ensure efficiency and accuracy in annotation.
Supervise the entire lifecycle of data collection, labeling, and processing for AI applications.

✅ Ensure Data Quality & Accuracy

Develop quality control measures to ensure that annotations meet project requirements.
Implement validation procedures to check for inconsistencies or errors in labeled data.
Optimize annotation techniques to improve AI model training.

✅ Manage & Train the Annotation Team

Recruit, train, and mentor data annotation specialists.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

✅ Enhance AI & Machine Learning Initiatives

Work closely with AI engineers and data scientists to align annotation strategies with model development.
Provide feedback on annotation tools and suggest improvements to the annotation pipeline.

✅ Optimize Workflow & Efficiency

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the annotation process.
Utilize automation tools and AI-assisted labeling where applicable to increase productivity.

Required Qualifications & Skills

To succeed in this role, you should have the following:

Must-Have Qualifications:

✔ Leadership Experience – Previous experience managing a team in data annotation, data processing, or AI-related fields.
✔ AI & Data Annotation Knowledge – Understanding of data labeling techniques, machine learning datasets, and annotation tools.
✔ Quality Assurance Skills – Ability to implement quality control measures and ensure data accuracy.
✔ Project Management Abilities – Experience handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and optimizing workflows.
✔ Technical Understanding – Familiarity with annotation software, AI models, or machine learning concepts.
✔ Attention to Detail – Ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, or biases in labeled datasets.
✔ Problem-Solving Skills – A proactive approach to improving processes and overcoming challenges.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have) Skills:

⭐ Experience working with computer vision, NLP (Natural Language Processing), or audio annotation.
⭐ Familiarity with Python, SQL, or scripting languages for automation.
⭐ Prior work in AI model training, dataset curation, or ML engineering.
⭐ Experience with cloud-based data annotation platforms (e.g., Labelbox, Supervisely, Scale AI).
